WEED CONTROL & SOIL MOISTURE CONSERVATION

Where applicable

Growth of weeds is a natural phenomenon and it controls erosion of soil. However it becomes a problem for crops when young, growth of crop is retarded in competition with  the weeds and if growth of weeds is not reduced the crop is destroyed. Various methods of weeding a crop field are used namely manual uprooting and cutting frequently, but due to increase in labour cost, weedicides are applied in selected crops. Sometimes polythene sheets are also applied for the purpose. However for protection of environment, natural products with 100% coverage are gradually growing popular.

Why applied

Reduces emergence of weeds significantly. When the plants are grown enough and out of danger from the weeds the fabrics degrade and become part of soil. It also controls erosion of soil and manure by rain, conserves soil moisture and increases growth of plants.
