Where applicable
When the land is sloping and the soil is highly erodable, protection of
plants and maintenance of yield of crop becomes a problem. Due to high
rate of erosion soil nutrients and manure applied becomes useless. Under
the situation application of jute soil conservation material is very
effective and economic.
Why applied
The jute material conserves soil to the extent of 90% which is
significantly higher than conventional methods like trench drain and
green mulch growth and yield of crop is maintained more than
normal.

How to apply
It may be applied after preparation of a field for plantation with a
gap in between the fabrics for plantation in rows. The
fabrics may be fixed with the soil at selvedges to prevent shifting
using suitable wooden pegs at 1 mt. interval.
It may also be laid in between rows of plant after plantation and fixed
with the soil.
The material will anchor the top soil and arrest movement of
detached particle and manure from carrying away by run off.
When canopy of the plants covers the entire area, the function of the
fabrics is not required and by the time it degrades and ultimately
becomes part of soil.
