The Hastings Jute Mill is one of the oldest mills in India situated on
the bank of the Hooghly on a land of about five acre and about 35 km.
away from Kolkata. It has a production capacity of 100 tonnes a day
comprising of Hessian, Sacking and diversified products like high grade
yarns, odorless bags, geotextiles and small capacity bags. It is a
composite mill having the divisions like Raw Jute, Batching, Spinning,
Weaving and Finishing. The divisions are managed by efficient managers
and supervisors, who look after the activities of about 4,000 workers
working in the mill round the clock. A Quality Control Division works
under the G. M to look after the quality of the products through process
and product control methods. The mill has exported millions of yards of
Jute Geotextiles to the USA and Europe over the years and set up a
Geotextile Cell to cater to the increasing requirements of the buyers of
the products. The cell comprises of a civil engineer, a textile
technologist and a geotextile expert, who are able to address any
geotechnical problem and solve it technically and economically. |
