Sometime road fails due to improper drainage
particularly in the hills, where space is a problem as well as in the
congested city areas. In such cases concealed drain using jute filter by
the side of the road as well as across the road helps drain out the
water.
The approach of bridge and flyovers, when filled with fly-ash or similar
fine materials, filtration of the fines is a problem, application of
granular filter is expensive and it may be replaced partially by jute
filter to reduce cost.
